My yellow lab (4yo male neutered) has developed a red splochy stomach and it has some scabs on it. It also looks like he is losing slight bits of hair in spots on his front and rear shoulders. Im thinking that it might be heat spots or some kind of skin disease. We have 2 other Golden Retrievers and neither of them have developed any symptoms, What could be the cause of this?

Vet question of the day

Add to Dog drinking alcohol
My dog REALLY likes alcoholic beverages, so much so, that she sticks her face in anybody's drink who's back is turned.  Lately, her behavior has changed somewhat.  She has torn up her bed and is having some crazy dreams (It would apprear by her barking and movements during sleep).  The other day, she actually bit my hand when I put my hand around her muzzle to move her away from my cup of hot sake.   I have put my hand on her muzzle this way many many times with no adverse reaction.  I should have recognized her increased agression as I continued to move my sake away from her but did not and so, for the first time, got bitten. Is the alcohol dangerous to this animal and could it be causing negative changes in her behaviour? - Click here to read the answer
